About TILDE

TILDE is a research and validation project sponsored by the DG INFSO-E6 of the European Commission under the "Innovation and SME Programme".
TILDE stands for "Tool for Integrated Leakage DEtection". The TILDE project aims at advancing the state-of-the-art in leakage management of water distribution networks through the development of a Decision Support Tool and an electronic Best Practice Database.

TILDE started on 1st September 2003 and will last 36 months.

The project combines both research and demonstration.

The research component deals with the implementation of a number of technologies that will guide water operators in the identification and undertaking of appropriate leakage control strategies. An Internet Web Portal is also being developed in order to spread best practice in distribution networks amongst the general public.

The demonstration component consists of the validation of the TILDE technology in four pilot locations across Europe, specifically in Bergen (NO), Nicosia (CY), Bari (IT) and Sassari (IT). The diversity of the pilot sites will make the TILDE technology applicable to a wide range of conditions.
