	Selection of pipe material for large water mains In this paper all the different materials for large water mains are examined in order to assist engineers in the selection of the best alternative in projects involving multi million dollar investments. Four pipe materials are examined (Steel, Ductile Iron, Reinforced concrete and Fiberglass) and in order to make these complex systems work for a long time minimising maintenance, special attention is devoted to corrosion protection.
